I am dedicating this journal to my grandmother and my mother. They both had a "green thumb", and I am running out of time to learn everything they new about gardening.
We have replanted these flowers from the shady area into the sunny place. It took two years for the plants to get used to their new home in the garden box. Low and behold, today, on a gloomy and rainy day, the most gorgeous blooms opened up.
For three long days the soviet authorities kept us in the dark and did not reveal the facts about the nuclear power explosion. We learned about the disaster only when the Scandinavian countries registered some radioactive clouds coming their way and raised some questions. Yet, many of us to this day remember where we were and what we were doing on that fatal day, April 26, 1986. I was gardening with my mom, staying in the fresh year all day.
